What have clients said?

"I use sports massage because after rupturing a disc in my lower back a few years ago and subsequently have had spinal fusion between L4 & L5. I was left with constant pain all over my back. I had already tried so many other things to help but it was coming to Chris that finally started to help with the pain. I’ve been seeing him for over a year now and he’s made a massive difference to my life. Whilst I’m not pain free (I doubt I ever will be) I now take a lot less pain medication and my range of movement has increased no end. He is the only person who's treated me that really knows what the problems are and tailors my weekly sessions to what has caused me the most issues that week. The mixture of massage and stretches works so well together and whilst it can be uncomfortable at times. I know that it is working and it has improved my life. I couldn’t live without him now!"

Michelle H
Low Back Pain

"I started sports massage sessions with Chris in the hope of relieving my daily struggle with lower back, shoulder, neck, and sciatica like pain. I thought that my problems were going to be with me for life and that the only solution was strong pain killers. After several regular visits I'm pleased to say that the pain has practically gone and I can't remember the last time I had to take the meds. Chris' knowledge of such problems, and the structure of the human body is unsurpassed, he is very friendly, easy to talk to, attentive and quickly locates the source of the problem. For anyone in pain with these, or similar problems I cannot recommend a Chris highly enough. Thanks Chris."

Steve H
Neck Pain

"I go to the gym regularly but sit at my laptop during the day, this makes me slouch and it really effects my upper back and shoulders. I use Chris and his Sports Massage because it helps release the muscle tension that builds up over a week and keeps me training. His massages are strong and get deep into the muscles and after my muscles feel loose and more relaxed."

Sam N
Shoulder & Upper Back Pain

"I first used Chris because of a hamstring tear I suffered playing football. After a few treatments it felt much better and I was more confident strengthening it. Now that it's recovered I regularly return because of tight calves due to running and football, the massages help with the tightness and my keeps my fitness up because I'm not getting injured"

Lee M
Hamstring Tear and tight Calves

"After neck surgery due to a collapsed disc my shoulder and neck muscles become tight and fatigued. The massages help my muscles feel normal and reduce the the pain that starts. The regular massages have also helped me continue training with Chris every week and because he knows my injury the training and massage works together to keep my fit and healthy."

Amanda E
Neck and Shoulder Pain

"I play a lot of golf and do weight training regularly. Sometimes this combination gives me pain on the outside of my hip and knee, every time I go to see Chris he knows what to do. Sometimes the massage can be painful but I know it's working because it feel so much better afterwards."

Chris K
Knee and Hip Pain

"I was in a car accident where a bus hit my car from behind and it resulted in me having whiplash. I contacted Chris and he took the time to get to know my pain and designed a treatment plan that involved massage and stretching. Before starting I could feel how tight my shoulders, upper and neck had become and after the first session the feeling was amazing. Over a few session they got better and better and now I can say I'm pain free."

David I
Whiplash

"Chris is fantastic and very professional. I had knee surgery a couple of years ago with MCL & ACL reconstruction and have suffered a lot since with my range of movement and pain. I have now had 3 appointments with him for sports massage and it has transformed my knee. I have a lot more movement now and virtually no pain. I highly recommend him."

Nick B
ACL Reconstruction and knee pain

"After an injury playing hockey and surgery on my knee I felt my muscles becoming tighter and higher around my knee. When I saw Chris I told the tight areas and he was able to work on loosening them, he also found some new areas of tightness that I didn't know were there but it worked. Over a few treatments the tightness reduced and my rehabilitation exercises really started to work, now I can run again and ready to go back to hockey."

Kirsty S
ACL Rehabilitation

"My low back pain got so bad I couldn't stand up straight and I walked into Chris' treatment room hunched forward and to the side. After one session of massage, stretching and movement I walked out at the end stood up straight"

Steve W
Low Back Pain

"A friend reccomended me to use Chris and I'm so glad she did! After spending weeks in pain and unable to run (which I found enormously frustrating) I booked to see Chris. After seeing him, I left pain free. I went for a run the following day and I had no pain or no issues. I can't believe he fixed me so quickly. I have also recommended him to someone who had very similar results. Thank you Chris, you're worth your weight in gold!"

Stacey C

"Thoroughly recommend Chris, diagnosed and sorted out my IT band in my leg and knee. Thanks Chris!"

John C

How does Sports Massage heal injuries and reduce aches, pains and tightness?

As long as it’s not within 2-3 days of the initial injury and swelling is reduced, Sports Massage can help

  1. Increase the blood flow to the injured area to promote healing
  2. If muscle fibres have become knotted it will mobilise them and release the knot
  3. As healing is taking place scar tissue begins to form
    • Scar tissue is a tough intermediary tissue, if it doesn’t get broken down it stays there and isn’t as strong so it can promote re-injury
  4. Also as healing is taking place muscle fibres don’t always align correctly
    • Massage helps promote this alignment
    • And helps correct any current mis-alignment
  5. When tight muscles increase in temperature they become more elastic and supple thus promoting flexibility
  6. Plus over the 2 sessions I would look into any other tight areas that could be putting you at risk of re-injury

What can you expect from your Sports Massage treatment?

Reduced pain, better flexibility, faster healing & improved posture.

There are many benefits of sports massage such as:

  1. Relax tense muscles
  2. Reduce pain
  3. Speed up recovery
  4. Increase flexibility
  5. Help you relax
  6. Improve sleep
  7. Increase local blood circulation
  8. Remove waste products

All sports massage treatments begin with a consultation, assessment and initial treatment. During this session I’ll understand your injury and goals and plan a tailored treatment. After I’ll book you in for a follow up treatment to track your progress.

It can but not always, when muscles become tight or injuries start to heal these areas of your body can become sensitive and sports massage is used to speed up your recovery and bring normal function to injured area of your body. Muscles can (not always) bruise because tissues are healing and this can be a necessary part of your recovery. Muscles and joints can feel sore after a sports massage because waste products that have built up in the injured are have been released. All of these are normal responses to a sports massage and nothing to be worried about.

If you have a lot of swelling around your injured area it essential you allow this to reduce before having a sports massage because area is inflamed and unable to be treated at that time.

I recommend a minimum of 1 consultation, assessment and initial treatment and 1 follow up treatment to track your progress. After this time we are able to discuss your needs.
